From England to Greece – Vesna’s miles of hope

This story is unlike any other, because it didn’t come from us.
We had no clue.
We weren’t involved in the plan.
We couldn’t have guessed what Vesna had in store.

Quietly but with determination, despite long-lasting pain in her leg, she set out to push boundaries, with love, strength, and a dedication that took us by surprise.
This is a story of love, courage, and faith in a better tomorrow, told through the steps of a remarkable woman who inspired us all.

We found out only after she had already begun, when she announced that in May she planned to walk 100 kilometers, not for herself, but for the Nikola Baroš Foundation.
In honor of her little friend, and for all the children we wish a safer, warmer childhood.

“I’ve lived abroad for a long time, where it’s easy to start a humanitarian campaign… but my heart kept pulling me back to my homeland. Despite past disappointments, I decided to try again because I found a Foundation that genuinely moved me.
I personally know the people behind it. I know their story. And I believe in what they do, with love, for Nikola and for all children.
That’s why I set out to walk and raise funds. It wasn’t easy. Bosnia is on the list of high-risk countries and everything took longer, but the campaign was finally approved.
Step by step, I keep going. For a love that knows no borders.” ❤️

At a time when many are still searching for the strength to begin, Vesna was already walking with purpose. Humble and smiling, with a heart full of love and a smile for every kilometer.

“Walking in Memory, Walking for Change,” she wrote.
She decided to double her monthly average and walk 100 kilometers instead of 50, aiming to raise £500 for the cause. This wasn’t just a personal challenge. She walked for Nikola. For what he believed in, that small things can change the world.
And they truly can.

Vesna did not stop. And she did not settle for 100 kilometers. Instead of following the plan, she walked an incredible 211 kilometers in a single month.
She began walking in England. She reached and surpassed her goal in sun-drenched Greece. Every step she took carried a powerful mission within her.

In the middle of it all, an unexpected setback happened. Her Facebook and Instagram accounts were shut down for reasons still unknown. The platforms through which she shared her journey, reached out to people, and expressed her gratitude disappeared overnight.
At the very moment when she needed support the most, she lost that community. She lost her digital world. But she did not lose her spirit.

“Do not think that those who rest truly die.
For good people live on, even after death.”
Year 1851.
(Notarius – Notary)

She kept walking. Without noise. Without pressure. She kept going because she believed.
And people found her. Donations kept coming in. And not only did she reach her goal, but she raised more than she had planned.

In a time when everything has to be fast, visible, and viral, Vesna reminded us of lasting values. That good people act even when no one is watching. That when someone gives a part of themselves, no contribution is ever small.

She walked for us.
For all children.
For Nikola, who didn’t dream of grand words, but of small changes that mean a lot.

This story is not about British pounds or kilometers. This is a story about the things that cannot be measured. It is a story about love, friendship, and the belief that togetherness still exists. That each of us, just like Vesna, can choose to be a guiding light.
Thank you, Vesna!

For moving us to tears.
For recognizing Nikola and what remains after him.
Thank you for walking.
And for carrying all of us with you.

May Vesna’s strength remind us that each of us can make a difference, step by step.

The Prijedor ABC (Prijedorski bukvar) – (Prilika za lirika)

On 29 May, at the Prijedor Theatre, a special book was presented: The Prijedor ABC –  (Prijedorski bukvar – Prilika za lirika), the final part of a trilogy about the city that began with the original Prijedor ABC (Prijedorski bukvar) and continued with the colouring book Colour Prijedor (Oboj Prijedor). The new edition features the same alphabet, but in an entirely new form, combining prose, poetry, and love for the homeland.

Let us recall how Nikola, while writing a school assignment about his hometown, discovered that there was almost no information about Prijedor in his textbooks. He could not finish the task without help from his parents. That spark became the reason why his grandfather, Zoran Stanić, decided to leave children something lasting, clear, and sincere – a book about the city, written for them.He reached out to his friend, the Belgrade-based poet Mirjana Bulatović, who wrote thirty poems in just four days, one for each concept and letter.

A special charm was added to the book by the young Prijedor artist Nataša Bubalo, a student at the Academy of Arts, whose illustrations guide both children and adults through the magical, colourful world of Prijedor. At the launch event, the authors Zoran and Mirjana spoke, and the illustrator Nataša also shared thoughts about her work. The musical part of the evening was enriched by the talented singer-songwriter Draženka Jovičin, who composed music to accompany Mirjana’s verses. Performing the songs alongside her guitar were our youngest and most wonderful participants, Danika Pačariz and Đorđe Komosar.

Pupils, parents, teachers, and friends filled the audience.

As in previous events, all participants gave their time selflessly and took part in the evening as a gesture of support for the Nikola Baroš Foundation, the organiser of this cultural gathering.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who is part of this story: to the authors Zoran Stanić and Mirjana Bulatović, the illustrator Nataša Bubalo, the music teacher Draženka Jovičin, our young performers Danika and Đorđe, as well as the City of Prijedor, the Prijedor Theatre, the Sreten Stojanović Gallery, and the Print printing house, who, as always, stand by us.

“Warmth, emotion, a spark in the eyes. It feels as if every part of the programme is guided by the heavenly boy Nikola Baroš, who left this city and this world in his thirteenth year, yet remains deeply drawn to everything that takes place here,” said Mirjana Bulatović, whose verse in The Prijedor ABC (Prijedorski bukvar), dedicated to a fallen soldier, reads:

“And is anyone ever dead enough that they can no longer love?”

This book is not just an ABC primer. It is the result of a grandfather’s love for his grandson, a city’s love for its children, and a poet’s love for words that teach us to carry our homeland in the heart. It stands as a lasting testament to Nikola, and to all those who, like him, ask important questions.

When a child says, “I cannot write about my city because there is nothing about it,” we, the adults, must choose how to respond.
Grandfather Zoran responded with a book.
And we responded with gratitude.

To conclude, there is a heartfelt recommendation from one of the most beloved children’s authors, Ljubivoje Ršumović:“Thirty concepts and thirty poetic texts have met and embraced within each letter of the alphabet, so that even those who are not from this beautiful city will gladly read The Prijedor ABC – A Chance for a Lyricist (Prijedorski bukvar – Prilika za lirika).Zoran Stanić and Mirjana Bulatović have played with joy and imagination, to the delight of people of all ages.”

We are certain that Nikola was among the audience that evening, watching from some distant, brighter place, following every verse and every smile with pride and quiet joy, smiling gently in the way only he knew how.

To Prijedor, with Love: Belgrade Writers in Our Schools

Six events in 42 hours, as precisely calculated by our dear guest, the poet Mirjana Bulatović.
Together with Slađana Bušić, and as part of the To Prijedor, with Love program, they set out on a brief but powerful mission of poetry, connection, and warmth.

In just two days, our wonderful guests visited four elementary schools in Prijedor, where they shared poems, stories, and conversations with the students.
Accompanying them were fellow citizens, singer-songwriter Draženka Jovičin, and the youngest participants of this unusual journey: Danika Pačariz and Đorđe Komosar — children who sang, accompanied by guitar, the songs Draženka had composed to the poetry of Mirjana Bulatović, with the joy and confidence of true young artists.

A special moment of the poetry session were precisely those songs, the music that Draženka had woven into Mirjana’s verses. Accompanied by guitar and children’s voices, poetry quite literally began to sing within the school walls and came to life before everyone.
In the classrooms and hallways, the poems echoed with music, applause, and curious questions. Mirjana and Slađana recited their verses, spoke about what it means to be a poet and a journalist, and most importantly, spent time with the children as equals. Without distance, without haste, with laughter and gentle words.

About our guests:

Mirjana Bulatović (born 1958) graduated in literature from the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad. She began her career in Podgorica, working as a journalist and proofreader, later continuing in Novi Sad. Since 1989, she has been living in Belgrade, working primarily as an independent artist.
She served as the editor of the literary forum French Street No. 7 (Francuska 7) and as secretary of the Association of Writers of Serbia.
She has published around thirty books of poetry and prose for both adults and children, as well as four volumes of translations of Russian poetry. Her work has been included in dozens of anthologies, and her poems have been translated into approximately twenty languages.
She is the recipient of numerous awards.
It is also interesting that over the course of a quarter of a century, she wrote more than fifty songs for Branko Kockica and the PUŽ Theater.

Prijedor has loved Mirjana for many years. And then we met her too, and loved her instantly. Not only as a poet, but as a human being. As a friend.
Mirjana is a woman of immense positive energy, yet at the same time gentle, caring, quiet when needed and strong when necessary. Wise. Noble. She spreads love and brings people together.
With her, smiles come naturally, and every conversation leaves a trace. Wherever she goes, she stays in people’s hearts.
In her verses, childhood rustles, and in her embrace, there is room for everyone, both big and small.

Slađana (Branislava) Bušić (born 1993) is a poet, journalist, and editor at Radio Beograd. She is the author and host of the programs Family Story (Porodična priča), From Another Angle (Iz drugog ugla), and From a Teen Perspective (Iz tinejdž ugla). She curated a special series marking 100 years of Radio Beograd and 70 years of the program Good Morning, Children (Dobro jutro, deco). On the occasion of that anniversary, she also published the book Dobro jutro, deco – Kako su se veliki kad su bili mali budili uz radio, RTS Publishing, 2024.
Co-author of the book Zbrda – zdola rečnik, she has also published three poetry collections, each of which has received an award.

Slađana is the recipient of numerous literary and media recognitions, a participant in the World Youth Forum in Sochi (2024), and a member of the Association of Writers of Serbia and the Presidency of the Association of Dramatic Writers of Serbia. She received an award at the Slam Championship of Serbia, and in the Poezija uživo series on Radio Beograd 2, she brought her poetry to life in the Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment.

Her view of the world is infused with faith, positivity, and authenticity, the kind that children instantly embrace.
She is known as “a joyful face” and “walking happiness,” because wherever she appears, she brings light and warmth. She uses every opportunity to share a message of hope and love.
Every encounter ends with her words:
“We will never part.”

Slađana won us over with her smile, her sense of humor, and a heart that loves without hesitation.

We are grateful that our team is growing with people just like them, pure of heart, ready to share kindness and create worlds where children are the main heroes.

We thank all the elementary schools: “Petar Kočić,” “Dositej Obradović,” “Desanka Maksimović,” and “Branko Ćopić” for opening their doors, their hearts, and their time for this encounter.

Thank you to all the students, teachers, and principals who showed that poetry and literature are alive when they are shared.
To Prijedor, with love, from Belgrade, through verse, smiles, and music.

An Evening with Viktor Lazić – A Traveler, a Writer, and a Man You Can Trust

Sometimes, the most extraordinary things happen entirely spontaneously.
Viktor Lazić arrived in Prijedor as a driver, a travel companion, and a friend of our dear guests, Mirjana Bulatović and Slađana Bušić. He was quiet and unassuming, as if he did not want anyone to know who he truly was.
We soon realized that it would have been unreasonable not to dedicate an evening to him.zViktor Lazić is a writer, travel author, lawyer, and a doctoral candidate in Chinese law. He is also a polyglot, translator, licensed tour guide, philatelist, and numismatist.

On May 28, in the organization of the Nikola Baroš Foundation, an unforgettable literary evening took place in the packed Sreten Stojanović Gallery, titled “The Traveler and the Writer – Viktor Lazić in Conversation with Mirjana Bulatović.”

We learned that in Mongolia, he washed donkeys to earn money for car repairs, and that on Sumatra, by complimenting a young woman, he unintentionally proposed to a member of a cannibal tribe. He then had to flee from the wedding they had prepared for him in the Batak tribe due to a language misunderstanding.
He described this experience in his book In the Heart of Sumatra (U srcu Sumatre).

One of his most well-known adventures is described in the book The Great Adventure (Velika avantura), which began in Kosovo and Metohija, more precisely at the Dečani Monastery, from where he set off on an epic journey in his Lada Niva car. Over the course of 421 days, he traveled through a large part of Europe, reached the northernmost point of the continent, Nordkapp, and then continued across Asia to Vladivostok.
Along the way, he spent nearly 300 nights sleeping in his car, often without heating or safety, but always with faith in people and in the stories he was collecting.

Behind the smile of this humble man stands a collection of more than two million books and artifacts from 150 countries.

In Belgrade, he founded Adligat. Within this unique association, the Museum of Serbian Literature and the Museum of Books and Travel have found their home, places where books made of rice, elephant dung, and palm leaves are preserved, each carrying its own story and path.
The Lazić Library, which has existed for 250 years, was officially founded in 1882 and stands as one of the pillars of his family’s tradition.

Viktor succeeded in creating more than one hundred legacies of prominent individuals.
Through his travels, which in total lasted more than twelve years, he visited over one hundred countries across six continents. All of this was made possible by his tireless work and his deep love for the written word.

One of the most dramatic stories took place in South Ossetia. Due to a misunderstanding, Viktor was arrested and spent about ten days in prison, several of which he spent in solitary confinement without light. In a cell marked by traces left by previous inmates, he was offered a belt so that they could “speed up the process,” as they told him.
Thanks to the intervention of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, Viktor was released. This episode is described in his book At the Gates of the East (Na vratima Istoka).

We warmly recommend his books as well: The Soul of Sudan (Duša Sudana), In the Heart of Sumatra ( U srcu Sumatre), Wandering through the Land of Smiles (Tumaranje zemljom osmijeha), , At the Gates of the East (Na vratima istoka), Kenya: Chariots of the Wild (Kenija: Damari divljine) and of course The Great Adventure (Velika avantura), which was published in as many as 20,000 copies.
Each of these books bears witness to a life that is not retold, but truly lived.

What is most beautiful is that Viktor speaks about all of this without a trace of vanity. His warmth, knowledge, humor, and humility turned the evening gathering into one of those rare moments that you carry in your heart.

Everything he said, everything he shared that evening, conveyed one simple truth: that true greatness lies in simplicity.
His presence felt like a quiet miracle that made us laugh, moved us, and deeply inspired us.

During his stay in Prijedor, he took the time to explore and photograph everything that caught his interest.
We watched him walk, notice details that many of us overlook, quietly record them, and preserve them with care.

He came as a driver.
He left as a friend.
He remained an inspiration.

Where Friendship Blossoms: A Cherry Tree in Bloom

In March, the students of Class VII2, alongside their parents and their class teacher, Biljana, planted a Japanese cherry tree in the courtyard of “Dositej Obradović” Primary School in Prijedor. They planted it as a symbol of friendship, of gratitude, of remembrance — as a gentle gift intertwining the past, the present, and all that is yet to come.

Today, just a few weeks later, the cherry tree has crowned itself in blossom.

Friendship blooms, love takes root, and memories send up new sprouts — tender shoots rising near the base, close to the heart of the young tree.

When we saw the first delicate petals, our hearts swelled. It was as if nature herself whispered: “Love lives here.”
In every flower, in every breath of spring wind, we are reminded that nothing truly precious ever fades. It simply stays — sometimes in different, quieter forms, but with the same strength.
In a smile, in an embrace, in every day warmed by kindness.

Just like our cherry tree. Planted in the name of love and friendship, and in honor of someone who will always be with us. ❤️

May each of its blossoms remind us that true friendship knows no end. It carries on, it grows, it embraces, and it blooms. And it shows us that children, with their hearts wide open, already know the most important truth — how to keep love alive. ❤️

The Tree That Blooms with Love

When we founded the Foundation, we knew one thing for certain—there is no end. Love does not stop. It does not disappear. It only grows, embraces more tightly, and gives meaning to everything in this life.

Nikola taught us that joy lies in giving. That kindness is greatest when shared. And that friends are the family we choose.

The focus of our Foundation are children and young people. Its heartbeat echoes in their classrooms, their smiles, their hands held together. We could not have imagined how deeply our hearts would remain tied to his school, his friends, and the entire community. And then, on March 6, 2025, we received confirmation of what we had long felt—love knows no end.

In their classroom, among old desks and new dreams, in embraces that heal, in a glance that speaks more than words, an idea was born. Nikola’s friends, their parents, and their teacher Biljana Tambić decided to plant a Japanese cherry tree in the schoolyard.

A tree that will grow tall, just like their love. A tree whose every blossom will be a child’s smile, every branch a memory, every leaf a gentle reminder that friendship endures. That what was beautiful never truly leaves—it simply continues to live in another form.

The Japanese cherry tree blooms briefly but magnificently. Its strength lies in that bloom—for it is not about how long something lasts, but how much light it leaves behind. Nikola left behind light. He left friends who feel deeply, who know how to preserve love and celebrate memories with life. He left behind a school community that understands the immeasurable power of togetherness.

This tree will not stand just anywhere. His friends planted it across from the future site of an open-air classroom—Baroshica. As if they instinctively knew where it belonged. To be a symbol of growth, its branches spreading wide to shelter the children who will learn, dream, and create there. To remind everyone who passes by that love is strongest when shared and that nothing truly sincere ever disappears. To stand proudly as a silent guardian of knowledge, friendship, and memories, watching over a space meant for future generations.

This is not a story of loss. This is a story of people who know how to love. Of children’s hands planting a tree of friendship. Of smiles that transform sorrow into strength. Of those who refuse to let anything beautiful come to an end—for as long as love exists, everything remains.

We should learn from children. In their simplicity lies all the wisdom of the world. In their hearts, the strength we too often forget. They teach us how to love sincerely, how to give without expectation, how to turn sadness into light. As someone endlessly dear and important to us, Radmila Brkić, so beautifully said:
“They are better than us.”

They have ensured that Nikola will not be forgotten. That he will live in every flower that blooms, in every leaf that dances in the wind, in every embrace of his friends. In the shadows cast by the cherry tree over Baroshica, in every smile of the children who will learn and dream there. In everything that grows, that is shared, and that remains forever. ❤️

VII 2, you are the best! ❤️

In fostering a culture of gratitude, this time our heartfelt thanks go to the dear Zorana Mirković, our guardian angel, and her colleagues from Municipal services  JSC, Prijedor.

Prijedor ABC Book: An Alphabet of Love for a City, for Nikola, and for All Our Children

At the end of 2024, in a packed hall of the Prijedor theater, we announced the Nikola Baroš Foundation. It was an evening filled with emotions, memories, and a very special book — The Prijedor ABC Book, written by Nikola’s grandfather, Zoran Stanić.

This unique book about Prijedor presents 150 concepts that capture the soul of the city — from history and geography to culture, art, and sports. Its creation holds a heartfelt story. Nikola, curious and proud of his hometown, once noticed that his schoolbooks lacked information about the place he loved so dearly. His grandfather decided to change that. With patience and devotion, he collected stories, facts, and landmarks, creating a book destined to become a lasting symbol of love and dedication.

Sadly, Nikola never got to see the completed Prijedor ABC Book. But surely, he now flips through its pages in a more beautiful place, reading the dedication on the first page — written for him and his friends.

A deeply moving moment was the visit to Nikola’s class, Grade 7, Class 2. His classmates and teachers received personalized copies of the book, a token of gratitude for filling Nikola’s world with joy and friendship.

But the story doesn’t end here. Nikola’s grandfather, Zoran Stanić, donated the entire print run to the Foundation, ensuring that the funds from its sale would support the construction of Barošica — the outdoor classroom — a place carrying Nikola’s spirit, a symbol of love, knowledge, and togetherness.

Thanks to generous donations, every contributor received a copy of the Prijedor ABC book and a colouring book. Additionally, union organizations that supported the Foundation included these books in children’s New Year gift packages.

Through this, Nikola’s wish for more people to learn about his beloved Prijedor continues to live on — in children’s hands, in stories passed down, and in the hearts of all who become part of this journey.

And just when we thought the emotions couldn’t run deeper, the wonderful school librarian Milena touched our hearts once again. She poured everything we feel into a gift, a treasure, a letter to Nikola — words that will forever shine, just like him. ❤️

When a stone is placed upon a person’s soul, pressing with the full force of its undeniable existence—a stone that doesn’t allow a person to take another breath without breaking apart—a stone called pain, a stone called sorrow, there are only two ways for a person to bear it. The first is to surrender to it and slowly perish under its weight. The second is to craft a chisel and, with the strength of love for the missing being, begin carving sorrow into it, vein by vein of the heart, creating a monument to one’s love.

Knowing Nikola and working with him, witnessing the creation of the Prijedor ABC Book, and observing the transformation of the power of grief, sorrow, and longing into the energy of words and books, I had no other choice but to weave the force of indescribable emotions into words myself.

In a small classroom of only a few square meters, young students' heads—full of secret thoughts, feelings, and reflections—were gathered. Opposite them sat a group of adults. Their thoughts were heavy, and burdened; grief weighed upon them. Memories. Emptiness. Longing. And then, words began to flow, like pearls. We are here remembering Nikola’s name, and the talk is about some book, some  ABC book. Of history. Of culture. Of what else? Where is all this coming from at this moment? A glance at the empty spot behind Nikola’s school desk. Of course! It’s Nikola! All of this stems from him. From a young being who was already a complete person. From a child from whom even adults could learn. From a reciter who could admonish even serious orators. Yes! From Nikola. Nothing less could have come from him. Nothing greater or more beautiful could he have become. A book. Eternity. Through the power of a grandfather’s love and a father’s and mother’s insatiable need to keep their child in an infinite embrace, at least in words, at least in stories, at least in perpetual memory—the stone of grief was sculpted with the chisel of love. Into a monument. Into an ABC Book. Into an ABC Book of Love.

I do not believe in death. The Son of Almighty God defeated death. Destroyed it. Annihilated it. Resurrected eternal life. I do believe in longing. Longing until the next meeting.

Foundation’s Inaugural Project Presentation

"Barošica" Outdoor Classroom

Today marks the day we officially open the doors to the future—in Nikola’s name, for every child who deserves love, support, and the chance for a happier childhood.

At a press conference attended by numerous media representatives, we proudly presented the Nikola Baroš Foundation. Born from sorrow and remembrance, yet guided by love for Nikola, this idea has grown into a mission—creating a better tomorrow for children and youth. This moment is the beginning of a story dedicated not only to his name but also to the values he lived by: kindness, empathy, and the joy of life.

"Barošica" Outdoor Classroom– The First Project in Nikola’s Name

Nikola loved to learn, explore, and spend time outdoors. His elementary school, “Dositej Obradović,” in Prijedor, was his second home—a place where he grew, made friends, and learned about the world. As the Foundation’s first project, we decided to create a symbolic gift for his classmates and future generations: the “Barošica” Outdoor Classroom.

This project holds special significance. The outdoor classroom is not just a space for learning but also a place that highlights the importance of connecting nature, education, and children’s creativity. Surrounded by nature, children will be able to attend lessons, read, draw, and develop their talents. We believe that every smile in this classroom will also be a smile for Nikola.

The project’s implementation will take place in multiple phases—from drafting project documentation, through construction, to equipping the space with tables, benches, and additional materials. Details about each phase and contributions will be publicly available on our website.

Transparency and Support—Our Principles

The Foundation stands on principles of transparency and trust. Every donor (unless you choose to donate anonymously)  and all collected funds will be publicly displayed, and each project will be clearly defined and outlined in advance.

We also want to emphasize that the Foundation is not interested in politics. Every person with good intentions who believes in our goals is welcome to contribute to our work.

You can become part of our story and help in various ways—by spreading information about the Foundation, offering moral and emotional support, making financial donations, contributing building materials, or sharing your knowledge and expertise.

Our goal is clear: through love and humanity, we build a better world for every child.

Spreading the Message of Love

The Nikola Baroš Foundation is not just a story about helping; it is a story of love that is shared and sorrow that transforms into a lighthouse. Every step brings us closer to ensuring that every child feels security, belonging, and warmth.

We invite you all to follow us, support us, and become part of this journey. Together, we can do so much more, because love knows no boundaries.

Nikola will forever be a part of us, and through this Foundation, he continues to inspire and change the world—one smile, one project, and one new joy at a time. We turn our love and memories of him into a force that inspires and transforms the world. ❤️

Heartfelt Thanks to Our Friends

We would not have been able to launch the Foundation without the support of our dear friends: Goran Krivić, Milica Vukoje, Danijel Ćurlić, Luka Višnjić, Marina Ješić, Aleksandar Drakulić, Omer Karadžić, Mladen Vlačina Tifi, Boris Predić, Zorana Mirković, Aleksandra Vukoje, Đorđe Bilbija.

With love,

Your Nikola Baroš Foundation ❤️

A December Enchantment at the Prijedor Theater “The School of Love”

On December 6th, in the welcoming ambiance of the Prijedor Theater, something extraordinary happened—a day that the children and all those present will carry in their hearts for a long time to come. A theater auditorium filled to the very last seat—over 300 children, their eyes sparkling with curiosity and smiles, united in their love for poetry and companionship.

The great poets of children’s literature, Ljubivoje Ršumović Ršum and Mirjana Bulatović, transformed the theater into a magical world of verse. Ršumović, the unmatched master of children’s poetry, with his charisma and wise words, brought laughter, joy, and an invitation to explore the world of poetry.

Mirjana Bulatović, tender and inspiring, wove warmth and beauty into her stories and poems, leaving each child with the realization that words are not only powerful but also wonderfully fun. The children recited, laughed, and eagerly answered questions. They were curious and honest, with that special spark in their eyes that only poetry can ignite. They were far from phones and games, immersed in a world where words, smiles, and applause meant everything.

With her soothing voice and the gentle notes of her guitar, Milica Milović added a magical touch to the poetry of the greats. Her melodies echoed through the theater, uniting everyone present as children laughed, clapped, and sang along.

For a fleeting moment, it felt as though time itself had stood still. The children’s faces glowed with happiness, their energy illuminating every corner of the hall.

And Nikola, though absent in body, was there—in every smile and every moment of that beautiful gathering. It felt as if he watched over his friends from above, his spirit present in their joy. His mission to spread love and happiness continued to live on through this enchantment.

This poetry matinee in Prijedor was not merely an event—it was a reminder of what matters most in life: love, joy, and compassion. One hour away from the world of screens, yet so close to the wonder of real life. This evening will not be just a memory, but the inspiration for many new stories and poems to come.

The Laureates in Prijedor

The literary evening “The Laureates” (originally titled “Ovjenčani”), held at the Prijedor Theater, was a true ode to art and human connection. On a single stage, before a packed auditorium, stood four legendary bards of our literary tradition—Pero Zubac, Ljubivoje Ršumović, Matija Bećković, and Dušan Kovačević. Their presence, words, and the emotions they evoked left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who attended.

The gathering of The Laureates, all four crowned and united by the prestigious “Wreath of Kozara – Skender Kulenović” award, was more than merely a sharing of stories—it was a transmission of the spirit of an era, the preservation of memories, and the reaffirmation of values that bind us as a community. Their words, delivered with grace and experience, were deeply personal yet universal, demonstrating the enduring power of literature to inspire and move us.

This extraordinary evening was made possible through the vision and dedication of Nikola’s grandfather, our dear Zoran Stanić, who brought these treasured guests together and orchestrated an event that Prijedor will long remember. The “Nikola Baroš Foundation” was honored to co-organize this special occasion, joyfully contributing to its magic.

This event would not have been possible without the financial support of the City of Prijedor, and the selfless collaboration of the “Sreten Stojanović” Gallery, the event’s primary organizer. Our mutual dedication formed the foundation upon which this evening, brimming with art and unity, was built.

Adding a unique charm to this evening was poet Mirjana Bulatović, whose warm and inspired hosting created an atmosphere in which the words of our literary giants resonated even more deeply. Mirjana’s presence on stage was like a quiet yet powerful breeze, carrying the message of art across time and space.

Music, as always, found its rightful place. Milica Milović, accompanied by her guitar, was the perfect complement to the verses, connecting the audience through melodies that filled the theater with emotion. Milica was the magical element that completed the evening, reminding us of the inseparable bond between art and feelings.

This night was far more than a cultural event. It was a poignant reminder of the power of words to illuminate moments, to connect us, and to inspire. In every applause, every tear, and every smile from the audience, the strength of art was palpable, fulfilling Nikola’s heartfelt wish: that people would come together through a shared love of creation and the spirit of giving.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who was part of this enchanting evening—our esteemed bards, our collaborators, the City of Prijedor, the “Sreten Stojanović” Gallery, and every individual in the audience who gave this night its soul. The synergy of words, music, and emotion proved just how essential art is to our lives.

We express our special gratitude to Ljubivoje Ršumović, Mirjana Bulatović, Pero Zubac, and Milica Milović, who generously waived their fees on behalf of the “Barošica” project.

We eagerly look forward to future opportunities to continue building a world where love and art take center stage. ❤️
