The Tree That Blooms with Love

When we founded the Foundation, we knew one thing for certain—there is no end. Love does not stop. It does not disappear. It only grows, embraces more tightly, and gives meaning to everything in this life.

Nikola taught us that joy lies in giving. That kindness is greatest when shared. And that friends are the family we choose.

The focus of our Foundation are children and young people. Its heartbeat echoes in their classrooms, their smiles, their hands held together. We could not have imagined how deeply our hearts would remain tied to his school, his friends, and the entire community. And then, on March 6, 2025, we received confirmation of what we had long felt—love knows no end.

In their classroom, among old desks and new dreams, in embraces that heal, in a glance that speaks more than words, an idea was born. Nikola’s friends, their parents, and their teacher Biljana Tambić decided to plant a Japanese cherry tree in the schoolyard.

A tree that will grow tall, just like their love. A tree whose every blossom will be a child’s smile, every branch a memory, every leaf a gentle reminder that friendship endures. That what was beautiful never truly leaves—it simply continues to live in another form.

The Japanese cherry tree blooms briefly but magnificently. Its strength lies in that bloom—for it is not about how long something lasts, but how much light it leaves behind. Nikola left behind light. He left friends who feel deeply, who know how to preserve love and celebrate memories with life. He left behind a school community that understands the immeasurable power of togetherness.

This tree will not stand just anywhere. His friends planted it across from the future site of an open-air classroom—Baroshica. As if they instinctively knew where it belonged. To be a symbol of growth, its branches spreading wide to shelter the children who will learn, dream, and create there. To remind everyone who passes by that love is strongest when shared and that nothing truly sincere ever disappears. To stand proudly as a silent guardian of knowledge, friendship, and memories, watching over a space meant for future generations.

This is not a story of loss. This is a story of people who know how to love. Of children’s hands planting a tree of friendship. Of smiles that transform sorrow into strength. Of those who refuse to let anything beautiful come to an end—for as long as love exists, everything remains.

We should learn from children. In their simplicity lies all the wisdom of the world. In their hearts, the strength we too often forget. They teach us how to love sincerely, how to give without expectation, how to turn sadness into light. As someone endlessly dear and important to us, Radmila Brkić, so beautifully said:
“They are better than us.”

They have ensured that Nikola will not be forgotten. That he will live in every flower that blooms, in every leaf that dances in the wind, in every embrace of his friends. In the shadows cast by the cherry tree over Baroshica, in every smile of the children who will learn and dream there. In everything that grows, that is shared, and that remains forever. ❤️

VII 2, you are the best! ❤️

In fostering a culture of gratitude, this time our heartfelt thanks go to the dear Zorana Mirković, our guardian angel, and her colleagues from Municipal services  JSC, Prijedor.

Prijedor ABC Book: An Alphabet of Love for a City, for Nikola, and for All Our Children

At the end of 2024, in a packed hall of the Prijedor theater, we announced the Nikola Baroš Foundation. It was an evening filled with emotions, memories, and a very special book — The Prijedor ABC Book, written by Nikola’s grandfather, Zoran Stanić.

This unique book about Prijedor presents 150 concepts that capture the soul of the city — from history and geography to culture, art, and sports. Its creation holds a heartfelt story. Nikola, curious and proud of his hometown, once noticed that his schoolbooks lacked information about the place he loved so dearly. His grandfather decided to change that. With patience and devotion, he collected stories, facts, and landmarks, creating a book destined to become a lasting symbol of love and dedication.

Sadly, Nikola never got to see the completed Prijedor ABC Book. But surely, he now flips through its pages in a more beautiful place, reading the dedication on the first page — written for him and his friends.

A deeply moving moment was the visit to Nikola’s class, Grade 7, Class 2. His classmates and teachers received personalized copies of the book, a token of gratitude for filling Nikola’s world with joy and friendship.

But the story doesn’t end here. Nikola’s grandfather, Zoran Stanić, donated the entire print run to the Foundation, ensuring that the funds from its sale would support the construction of Barošica — the outdoor classroom — a place carrying Nikola’s spirit, a symbol of love, knowledge, and togetherness.

Thanks to generous donations, every contributor received a copy of the Prijedor ABC book and a colouring book. Additionally, union organizations that supported the Foundation included these books in children’s New Year gift packages.

Through this, Nikola’s wish for more people to learn about his beloved Prijedor continues to live on — in children’s hands, in stories passed down, and in the hearts of all who become part of this journey.

And just when we thought the emotions couldn’t run deeper, the wonderful school librarian Milena touched our hearts once again. She poured everything we feel into a gift, a treasure, a letter to Nikola — words that will forever shine, just like him. ❤️

When a stone is placed upon a person’s soul, pressing with the full force of its undeniable existence—a stone that doesn’t allow a person to take another breath without breaking apart—a stone called pain, a stone called sorrow, there are only two ways for a person to bear it. The first is to surrender to it and slowly perish under its weight. The second is to craft a chisel and, with the strength of love for the missing being, begin carving sorrow into it, vein by vein of the heart, creating a monument to one’s love.

Knowing Nikola and working with him, witnessing the creation of the Prijedor ABC Book, and observing the transformation of the power of grief, sorrow, and longing into the energy of words and books, I had no other choice but to weave the force of indescribable emotions into words myself.

In a small classroom of only a few square meters, young students' heads—full of secret thoughts, feelings, and reflections—were gathered. Opposite them sat a group of adults. Their thoughts were heavy, and burdened; grief weighed upon them. Memories. Emptiness. Longing. And then, words began to flow, like pearls. We are here remembering Nikola’s name, and the talk is about some book, some  ABC book. Of history. Of culture. Of what else? Where is all this coming from at this moment? A glance at the empty spot behind Nikola’s school desk. Of course! It’s Nikola! All of this stems from him. From a young being who was already a complete person. From a child from whom even adults could learn. From a reciter who could admonish even serious orators. Yes! From Nikola. Nothing less could have come from him. Nothing greater or more beautiful could he have become. A book. Eternity. Through the power of a grandfather’s love and a father’s and mother’s insatiable need to keep their child in an infinite embrace, at least in words, at least in stories, at least in perpetual memory—the stone of grief was sculpted with the chisel of love. Into a monument. Into an ABC Book. Into an ABC Book of Love.

I do not believe in death. The Son of Almighty God defeated death. Destroyed it. Annihilated it. Resurrected eternal life. I do believe in longing. Longing until the next meeting.

Foundation’s Inaugural Project Presentation

"Barošica" Outdoor Classroom

Today marks the day we officially open the doors to the future—in Nikola’s name, for every child who deserves love, support, and the chance for a happier childhood.

At a press conference attended by numerous media representatives, we proudly presented the Nikola Baroš Foundation. Born from sorrow and remembrance, yet guided by love for Nikola, this idea has grown into a mission—creating a better tomorrow for children and youth. This moment is the beginning of a story dedicated not only to his name but also to the values he lived by: kindness, empathy, and the joy of life.

"Barošica" Outdoor Classroom– The First Project in Nikola’s Name

Nikola loved to learn, explore, and spend time outdoors. His elementary school, “Dositej Obradović,” in Prijedor, was his second home—a place where he grew, made friends, and learned about the world. As the Foundation’s first project, we decided to create a symbolic gift for his classmates and future generations: the “Barošica” Outdoor Classroom.

This project holds special significance. The outdoor classroom is not just a space for learning but also a place that highlights the importance of connecting nature, education, and children’s creativity. Surrounded by nature, children will be able to attend lessons, read, draw, and develop their talents. We believe that every smile in this classroom will also be a smile for Nikola.

The project’s implementation will take place in multiple phases—from drafting project documentation, through construction, to equipping the space with tables, benches, and additional materials. Details about each phase and contributions will be publicly available on our website.

Transparency and Support—Our Principles

The Foundation stands on principles of transparency and trust. Every donor (unless you choose to donate anonymously)  and all collected funds will be publicly displayed, and each project will be clearly defined and outlined in advance.

We also want to emphasize that the Foundation is not interested in politics. Every person with good intentions who believes in our goals is welcome to contribute to our work.

You can become part of our story and help in various ways—by spreading information about the Foundation, offering moral and emotional support, making financial donations, contributing building materials, or sharing your knowledge and expertise.

Our goal is clear: through love and humanity, we build a better world for every child.

Spreading the Message of Love

The Nikola Baroš Foundation is not just a story about helping; it is a story of love that is shared and sorrow that transforms into a lighthouse. Every step brings us closer to ensuring that every child feels security, belonging, and warmth.

We invite you all to follow us, support us, and become part of this journey. Together, we can do so much more, because love knows no boundaries.

Nikola will forever be a part of us, and through this Foundation, he continues to inspire and change the world—one smile, one project, and one new joy at a time. We turn our love and memories of him into a force that inspires and transforms the world. ❤️

Heartfelt Thanks to Our Friends

We would not have been able to launch the Foundation without the support of our dear friends: Goran Krivić, Milica Vukoje, Danijel Ćurlić, Luka Višnjić, Marina Ješić, Aleksandar Drakulić, Omer Karadžić, Mladen Vlačina Tifi, Boris Predić, Zorana Mirković, Aleksandra Vukoje, Đorđe Bilbija.

With love,

Your Nikola Baroš Foundation ❤️

A December Enchantment at the Prijedor Theater “The School of Love”

On December 6th, in the welcoming ambiance of the Prijedor Theater, something extraordinary happened—a day that the children and all those present will carry in their hearts for a long time to come. A theater auditorium filled to the very last seat—over 300 children, their eyes sparkling with curiosity and smiles, united in their love for poetry and companionship.

The great poets of children’s literature, Ljubivoje Ršumović Ršum and Mirjana Bulatović, transformed the theater into a magical world of verse. Ršumović, the unmatched master of children’s poetry, with his charisma and wise words, brought laughter, joy, and an invitation to explore the world of poetry.

Mirjana Bulatović, tender and inspiring, wove warmth and beauty into her stories and poems, leaving each child with the realization that words are not only powerful but also wonderfully fun. The children recited, laughed, and eagerly answered questions. They were curious and honest, with that special spark in their eyes that only poetry can ignite. They were far from phones and games, immersed in a world where words, smiles, and applause meant everything.

With her soothing voice and the gentle notes of her guitar, Milica Milović added a magical touch to the poetry of the greats. Her melodies echoed through the theater, uniting everyone present as children laughed, clapped, and sang along.

For a fleeting moment, it felt as though time itself had stood still. The children’s faces glowed with happiness, their energy illuminating every corner of the hall.

And Nikola, though absent in body, was there—in every smile and every moment of that beautiful gathering. It felt as if he watched over his friends from above, his spirit present in their joy. His mission to spread love and happiness continued to live on through this enchantment.

This poetry matinee in Prijedor was not merely an event—it was a reminder of what matters most in life: love, joy, and compassion. One hour away from the world of screens, yet so close to the wonder of real life. This evening will not be just a memory, but the inspiration for many new stories and poems to come.

The Laureates in Prijedor

The literary evening “The Laureates” (originally titled “Ovjenčani”), held at the Prijedor Theater, was a true ode to art and human connection. On a single stage, before a packed auditorium, stood four legendary bards of our literary tradition—Pero Zubac, Ljubivoje Ršumović, Matija Bećković, and Dušan Kovačević. Their presence, words, and the emotions they evoked left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who attended.

The gathering of The Laureates, all four crowned and united by the prestigious “Wreath of Kozara – Skender Kulenović” award, was more than merely a sharing of stories—it was a transmission of the spirit of an era, the preservation of memories, and the reaffirmation of values that bind us as a community. Their words, delivered with grace and experience, were deeply personal yet universal, demonstrating the enduring power of literature to inspire and move us.

This extraordinary evening was made possible through the vision and dedication of Nikola’s grandfather, our dear Zoran Stanić, who brought these treasured guests together and orchestrated an event that Prijedor will long remember. The “Nikola Baroš Foundation” was honored to co-organize this special occasion, joyfully contributing to its magic.

This event would not have been possible without the financial support of the City of Prijedor, and the selfless collaboration of the “Sreten Stojanović” Gallery, the event’s primary organizer. Our mutual dedication formed the foundation upon which this evening, brimming with art and unity, was built.

Adding a unique charm to this evening was poet Mirjana Bulatović, whose warm and inspired hosting created an atmosphere in which the words of our literary giants resonated even more deeply. Mirjana’s presence on stage was like a quiet yet powerful breeze, carrying the message of art across time and space.

Music, as always, found its rightful place. Milica Milović, accompanied by her guitar, was the perfect complement to the verses, connecting the audience through melodies that filled the theater with emotion. Milica was the magical element that completed the evening, reminding us of the inseparable bond between art and feelings.

This night was far more than a cultural event. It was a poignant reminder of the power of words to illuminate moments, to connect us, and to inspire. In every applause, every tear, and every smile from the audience, the strength of art was palpable, fulfilling Nikola’s heartfelt wish: that people would come together through a shared love of creation and the spirit of giving.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who was part of this enchanting evening—our esteemed bards, our collaborators, the City of Prijedor, the “Sreten Stojanović” Gallery, and every individual in the audience who gave this night its soul. The synergy of words, music, and emotion proved just how essential art is to our lives.

We express our special gratitude to Ljubivoje Ršumović, Mirjana Bulatović, Pero Zubac, and Milica Milović, who generously waived their fees on behalf of the “Barošica” project.

We eagerly look forward to future opportunities to continue building a world where love and art take center stage. ❤️

The Esteemed Poet Pero Zubac Among Friends – A Gathering of Emotion and Verse

On December 4, 2024, the Foundation fulfilled one of its most profound promises: to always place children at the very heart of all of its endeavors. The first of three days spent in the inspiring company of luminaries from the world of poetry and literature began at „Dositej Obradović“ Elementary School in Prijedor, where we were welcomed with open hearts by our young friends

This gathering was made especially meaningful by the presence of our esteemed guest, Pero Zubac, a name that carries profound emotional resonance within our literary tradition.

The author of more than 50 books and a towering figure among the poets of our region, Zubac captivated the students with his eloquence and warmth, transforming the school hall into a living canvas of poetry and dialogue. His verses, filled with love and the timeless wisdom of life, found their way into the hearts of all who were present.

The ambiance was further enriched by the artistry of singer-songwriter Draženka Jovičin, who accompanied the poet on guitar, and the exceptional talent of Aleksandar Vuleta, a member of the orchestra from „Petar Kočić“ Elementary School.

Together, they infused every moment with a unique charm, weaving a harmony of poetry and music that will be cherished for years to come.

The Foundation expresses its heartfelt gratitude to „Dositej Obradović“ Elementary School for their warm hospitality and generous support. This event stood as a shining example of how unity, artistry, and humanity can intertwine to fill our lives with profound love and joy.

To all who participated and contributed to making this occasion truly unforgettable, we extend our deepest thanks.

We carry forward our mission of honoring Nikola’s memory, inspiring new friendships, and shaping a world enriched with love and art.

FRIENDSHIP

A good friend is worth far more
Than the sun and gentle rain,
Than the forest, than the bread
A good friend you’ll always need.
When worries gather, troubles brew,
There is no cure but unity true.
In times of joy, in times of plight,

Friendship shines with golden light.
If you have a loyal friend,
Your troubles will swiftly end.
When sorrow strikes or illness calls,
A friend arrives, no need to ask.
A friend will always find the words
To heal the wounds that sadness stirs.

Presentation of the „Nikola Baroš Foundation“

In recent days, we had the profound honor of presenting the „Nikola Baroš Foundation“; to a gathering of dear friends, acquaintances, and fellow citizens at the Prijedor Theater. Each encounter and every expression of support we received inspires us to continue with courage on this mission that celebrates life and preserves the cherished memory of our Nikola.

This foundation is not solely our way of keeping him forever in our hearts. It is our solemn dedication and commitment to offering children the support and opportunities they so greatly deserve.

The „Nikola Baroš Foundation“ was established in honor of Nikola, our beloved son, with the noble purpose of aiding children and young people through educational, social, cultural, and sports projects, among others. Our deepest wish is to always stand by those in need of a helping hand, a gentle encouragement, or an opportunity to nurture their talents. With every action we undertake, we aspire to contribute to society in the very way we would have hoped Nikola would, were he here with us.

Community Support – A Step Closer to Our Goal

At the foundation’s launch event, a remarkable gathering of fellow citizens, friends, and families came together. Every presence and every word of support meant more to us than words could ever convey. We are immensely proud that the community has shown its readiness to support and accompany us in our efforts. Our goal is to maintain complete transparency in all our work, ensuring that every step, every donation, and every project is clear and accessible to the public.

Our First Steps

The foundation’s inaugural initiative is planned in collaboration with “Dositej Obradović” Elementary School in Prijedor, the school that Nikola attended. This represents a symbolic first step, with the hope that other schools, institutions, and organizations will join us on this meaningful journey.

How Can You Help?

Each of you can become part of the “Nikola Baroš Foundation” —whether through a donation, volunteering, or simply by spreading awareness of our mission. Your support empowers us to share our story and help as many children as possible reach their full potential.

What Lies Ahead?

Together, we aspire to contribute to the growth and inclusion of children through a variety of projects and initiatives. We firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, develop, and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.

We are deeply grateful for your presence on this journey. Your support guarantees that Nikola is never forgotten – his memory lives on in every child’s smile.

With respect,

„Nikola Baroš Foundation“ ❤️
