There are evenings that gently remind us that the world still holds places where kindness gathers like warm light.
One such evening unfolded recently in Belgrade, when the Zvezdara Theatre opened its doors to those who believe in the power of the spoken word.
In that hall, among hundreds of people, something quiet found its way from the stage into the audience. A reminder that art exists not for itself but to remind us to breathe, feel, dream, and love. And for us, to steady us as we continue a journey that bears Nikola’s name.
A gift that is more than a donation
When Zvezdara Theatre decided to dedicate part of the evening’s proceeds to the Nikola Baroš Foundation, they did more than offer a generous act of kindness. They helped bring a dream to life, the creation of the ZVEZDARA Children’s Creativity Festival, an event that will give children a voice, a space, and the freedom to shape their own world.
For the Foundation, this is not merely support. This is recognition.
Recognition of something gentle, honest and deeply human that lives through Nikola and that we feel called to share with others.
Every bridge begins with a single person
Along our path, we have learned something important. Dreams rarely come true on their own.
A person is needed.
Sometimes two.
People who link what once had no path between them.
We call them bridge-makers.
There are those who recognize meaning long before it becomes visible.
Those who, while you are still searching for the road, are already guiding you to the place where you are meant to be.
For us, such people, with deep respect and endless gratitude, are Mirjana Bulatović and Slobodan Ivetić.
Not because they opened a door for us, but because they recognized the story and said, “Let’s open it even wider.”
Some bonds are shaped not by words, but by gestures.
Theirs were bridges.
Zvezdara, a place that understands children
That evening, the theatre showed that a great city becomes truly greater only when it cares for its children.
Their gift to our Foundation is not just support for culture.
It is support for childhood.
For creativity.
For new connections.
For the feeling that every child is more important, noticed, and free to bring their inner world into the open.
On stage stood four giants of the written word, each with a voice uniquely their own.
Matija Bećković brought that unmistakable force that transforms even the simplest words into lasting reflections.
Ljubivoje Ršumović reminded us that he writes for adults with the same depth and inspiration for which he is cherished by children, and on this evening he chose to set his children’s poetry aside.
Pero Zubac carried a quiet nostalgia, a tenderness scented with youth and carefully kept memories.
And Dušan Kovačević showed that poetry can be heard even when spoken in a prose voice, for the truth in his words always finds it way to those who listen.
Together, they were like four lights that turned the theatre into a home for everyone who treasures the written word.
And Nikola...
He will, as always, be somewhere among them.
In a poem, in a drawing, in a smile.
In that moment when a child gathers the courage to bring something of their own into the light and speak it aloud.
Thank you for believing in love
Our Foundation was born from sorrow, but it lives from love. That is why evenings like this one, and people and places like these, remind us that goodness never walks a lost path.
Thank you to the Zvezdara Theatre.
Thank you to Dušan Kovačević, Matija Bećković, Ljubivoje Ršumović, and Pero Zubac.
Thank you to the audience who chose to be part of this moment of kindness.
Thank you to the bridge-makers who create connections where before there was nothing but hope.
And thank you to Nikola, our quiet teacher, for continuing to lead us towards everything that is beautiful. ❤️
Many dear friends aksed us, honestly and with so much love, why we had not told then about this event.
The reason is simple. The tickets sold out the very same day.
Everything happened quickly, spontaneously, and almost unnoticed.
Exactly the way the most beautiful things sometimes come into our lives.
